Feel Better: Step 10

Know that you are part of the population

When considering your own potential for optimal health, consider the health of the population within which you thrive. Think of the environment that you live in no differently than the environment that each of your cells live in.

First, define your population. Who makes an impact on your life?

  • Start with yourself. What is your relationship with yourself? Once you have created your own person-centered care plan; focus your attention on thoughts, feelings, emotions and behaviors that help you thrive.
  • Think of your partner. What brings your partner peace and joy? Do you support this? Will you support this?
  • Think of your immediate family. When you are together, make it your intention to strengthen bonds.
  • Think of your friends and extended family. When interacting, be kind.
  • Think of your community; individuals with whom you share physical space. It is your responsibility to bring peace to your physical environment.
  • Think of individuals with whom you communicate; those who communicate with you and you communicate with them. Communicate with respect to what matters to them.
  • Think of the individuals that communicate to you. Know that 95% of the time news reporters, celebrities, politicians, and leaders are reacting to information in a way that they were programmed. When listening to any form of communication be critical and mindful of the information. What rings true for you? What information, when responding to it instead of reacting to it, uses your top down pre-frontal cortex to interpret it? This is your birthright. Know that even the most loveable individual may have the best intentions but only you know what feels right for you personally. Only you decide if the information affects your feelings, emotions, beliefs and behaviors. It is your right to wish them well and let the communication flow by as if you were transparent to it.
