Feel Better: Step 2

Question the authority of your thoughts

Were you raised to believe that you should routinely question authority?

If you were raised to believe that you should not routinely question authority, you may suffer from persistent fear-based thought patterns about your own self-image. You give these thought patterns power over how you set goals, make even the most mundane decisions, as well as whether you feel worthy of your goals and dreams. Know that you have control over what you think about and only you can make a decision to change your mind about defining your own self-image.

Have you done the work of creating an image/goal for yourself that you desire deeply? DO IT! Write it down. Cut out pictures and create a collage of what your true self desires. Create a mantra that embodies this vision. Say this mantra all day long, especially at times of day when you are functioning in an altered state of consciousness. This mantra can be as simple as “Every day in every way, I am better and better”. For example: while you are washing the dishes, vacuuming, weeding, and mowing the lawn, raking leaves, running on a treadmill or during your commute. The strategy is to be deliberate in determining what you truly desire for yourself and live your life with integrity around the decisions you make all day long in accordance with what this true self of yours would decide…in the moment, on purpose and non-judgmentally.

Know that your greatest power is your ability to decide. Do not give your power away.
